You may be looking at different options for your children now that the school year has come to a close. Whether it is for education purposes, more freedom in their life, or just a better education in general, some parents are turning to boarding schools. Although it may sound a little extreme to you, there are many benefits to a boarding school education and experience.
The Education
For many, their experience in boarding schools far surpassed that in traditional public schools and even private schools. A study conducted found that over half of learners from boarding schools said the education was satisfactory. For public and private schools, the percentage was more in the forty percent range. The education from a boarding school is most likely going to surpass that of any public or private education, simply since it is the groundwork for any good boarding school.
A boarding school will have smaller class sizes (even compared to private schools) and more hands-on capabilities than traditional education. They can offer field trips and a more inclusive learning experience for students. Being on campus can better focus your child on their studies and maintain good grades. Boarding schools will have a wide range of academic studies for your child as well, being able to offer more in-depth programs or more obscure learning materials. Most public schools are going to be offering a few foreign languages to choose from, while a boarding school could have more rare choices, such as Japanese, Mandarin, and German.
The Preparation
For many who attended a boarding school, the education was very good but the preparation for real-life experiences was even better. Attending a boarding school puts your child in the driver’s seat, preparing them for living on their own and giving them a taste of what college is like. Over eighty percent of the study-takers reported feeling ready for the real world after attending a boarding school, while only thirty-eight percent of public school attendees felt ready for living on their own. It can be tricky navigating the real world, whether it be time-management, working while studying, or balancing their school-social interactions well. Being as prepared for the real world as possible is becoming a bigger and bigger issue for children in school, as they need help navigating all the ways in which the world works and how to best fit into these ideals.
A boarding school can help a child better focus on what is important in their life, and prioritize their education and future more easily!
