One of the many perks of homeschooling is having extra time in the morning for a full breakfast. A nutritious meal in the morning will help your child feel energized and focused as they start their day. Here are some simple breakfast ideas your kids will love.

Oatmeal

A warm bowl of oatmeal is perfect for chilly mornings. Let your kids make the dish their own by setting out a variety of add-ins. Sliced bananas, walnuts, and berries are great options. Use pure maple syrup or coconut sugar to sweeten the oatmeal naturally.

Smoothie

Smoothies are a great way to get some veggies into your kiddo’s diet. Throw a handful of spinach into a blender with some frozen berries, yogurt, and milk. You can also add frozen cauliflower to any smoothie combo (like peanut butter & banana) and they’ll never be the wiser.

Egg in a Hole

This dish provides healthy fats, protein, and whole grains on one plate. Use a cookie cutter to cut a hole in the middle of a slice of whole-grain bread. Place the bread in a frying pan with a drizzle of olive oil on medium heat. Crack an egg into the hole and cook until the egg is done, flipping if necessary.

Avocado Toast

If your child enjoys avocado, this is a great breakfast option that is full of healthy fats. Toast a slice of whole-grain bread and mash a few pieces of avocado on top. Add some sliced tomatoes for an extra pop of flavor. If your kid doesn’t like avocados, a sprinkle of salt will suffice.

Banana Pancakes

Pancakes are the ultimate kid favorite, but most mixes are full of sugar and preservatives. Make your own version by mixing a ripe banana with two eggs and a pinch of cinnamon in a blender. Add some flour to make a fluffier pancake. Pour into a lightly oiled pan on medium heat and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side until fully cooked. Top with maple syrup, peanut butter, or more banana slices.
